"Those of you that know me as a Gothic artist might not be surprised to hear that I also sing for a Gothic Metal band whose influences stem from Type O Negative ( RIP Peter Steele ), Cradle of Filth, Nightwish & Within Temptation.

'Vampires Of Rookwood’, our first album, soon to be released, is of vampirc nature, in that its lyrical content deals with gothic underworldien themes, whilst its music is extremely heavy yet classically influenced.

At the moment, the lowest guitars ever heard by human ears, are being recorded with the help of engineer extraordinaire Mark Lewis ( Devil Driver, Trivium ) from Audio Hammer studios in Florida.

Why is it taking you so damn long to release the As Angels Bleed album?
"I get asked this so much; I thought I should add this question in here. It’s taking so damn long because I am a very busy little bee. Normally, when a band decides to record an album, they lock themselves away from the world for 3 months, and come out with a new album. I’ve been doing the same thing, but have the additional distractions of working on new artworks, releasing new products, arranging photo shoots and running my business, which defiantly slows things down!

Each song contains approximately 120 tracks, from the band, to the full church choir and orchestra, its gothic metal and it’s fucking awesome, it was an exciting period for Von and I to produce the entire album ourselves over the last 6 months & to be as creative as our imaginations could allow.

For those of you that have heard the previews I have been showing around, I now offer you a second song called ‘I Drown’. This is still a demo, but just a gesture of sincerity to those loyal fans out there that have been asking me each and every month ‘when will this damn album will be released Avelina?.

The As Angels Bleed album is my priority for 2011, so although artwork releases may be a little scarcer than normal, rest assured my pretties, it will be worth the wait". - Avelina De Moray

Way too many to list......basically everywhere....especially Europe. I am hoping my music or art will take me overseas, I would love to live somewhere in Europe, .Finland or perhaps Bratislava, but I hate the cold, so I don't know how practical that idea is.

Weapon of Choice:
Canon 5D fitted with a canon f 2.8 24-70 lens, and my Wacom Intuos 4 Tablet (most recently used to draw DRACULA)

What program to you use when creating your artworks?
Photoshop CS 4

What brushes do you use when drawing with your Wacom tablet?
I usually stick to simple brushes like the soft & hard round brushes (which come with photoshop), and mess around with them with the opacity turned down pretty low. I have a few other brushes I have made that I use for adding texture and scratches to layers, but have found I usually only use three or four different types.

Is your artwork drawn or is it photography?
It is both. Some artworks are completely drawn, and others are photographs which I have edited in Photoshop and digitally drawn onto off. Every artwork I release has been heavily edited with filters and manipulation before its release.

Did you take any art classes?
No, everything I have learnt I taught myself........I love the self satisfaction of learning how to do something new all by yourself, I also don't play well with others.....hehe

What makes you laugh?
Bad Jokes, Really bad jokes, there seems to be a never ending supply around here.

First record you bought:
Well technically my dad bought it for me, QUEEN 'Greatest Hits' ROCK ON!!!!!

Do you play any instruments?
Yes., .I started with piano from the age of 13 but the need for a 'rockier' instrument rudely interrupted my piano days, .thus life with a 6 string began.
Thanks to Von, within 6 months my 6 string guitar mutated into a custom Mahogany 7 string guitar.
I also play the Violin. .But by far, my favourite instrument is vocals, singing is a far more creative way to express yourself.

Favorite book:
I don't have much time to read these days, but I enjoy reading Bram Stoker's Dracula, Necroscope by Brian Lumley and anything by Anne Rice.

Favourite Poet:
Edgar Allan Poe

Favorite drink:
We'll believe it or not, up until recently, I did not drink, I hate the taste and the smell.

That all changed when I met Marco from Nightwish, who introduced me to Finnish Vodka and an ancient breathing technique that allows you to bypass the smell and taste of your alcoholic beverage.

That really put a spin on events that followed.

Suffice it to say, that besides the 60 Nightwish photos released, another 200 will never be seen as they have been rendered USELESS. What good are close ups of people's feet and noses anyway? LOL.

However, If you message me I'll gladly send you photos of Marco's caricature underwear.
I still don't drink, just haven't found something that my palate can bear.......maybe I should try drinking blood.

Favorite food:
Peanut satay chicken, Anything Italian, Pizza, anything with a White wine, garlic (yes I eat garlic haha) and mushroom sauce......& anything made by Von Lehmann. He's a fabulous cook!.

Favorite movie:
Bram Stoker's Dracula, .Fucking Brilliant! best movie ever, thank you Francis Ford Coppola.

Favorite TV show:
Life's to short for TV, but I do enjoy True Blood, The Sopranos, Battlestar Galatica (The new one), Moonlight, Family guy.

How many tattoos do you have?:
Too many to count.

Which tattoo was your first?:
The rose that resides on my right breast, It was my 18th birthday present from Von.

Did they hurt?:
This is a stupid question, but you'd be surprised how many times I have been asked.

Will you stop making Vampire artworks?
Probably not, it's a subject that I think there's always another take on!, If I stop creating vampire art, I'd probably try Lykens!

Left to be raised by wolves on the steps of Castle Dracula during the Reaper Blizzard in the winter of 84, Avelina was compelled to find her wings and uncover her true vampire, the vampire that stirs within us all, hidden deep in the darkest recesses of our minds soul.

Avelinas’ odyssey would take her through many different artistic mediums including poetry, art, photography and music, and lead to the release of her highly anticipated album ‘Vampires Of Rookwood’ by her Gothic Metal band ‘As Angels Bleed’ in the summer of 2011.

Whilst her artistic appetite might change with the dawning of each new day, her requiem will always remain the same, dark, desperate, occultic and vampiric.

Influenced most by the sexually religious surreal works of Hieronymus Bosch, H.R Giger and Salvador Dali. Avelina also draws inspiration from movies and books crediting Bram Stoker as her primeval muse.

Her color pallet also heavily reflects these influences with the use and abuse of burnt reds, electric blues and violent greens designed to bring forth an emotional response from within the unsuspecting spectator.

Avelina is currently working on a new series of vampire artworks and hopes that you will enjoy her exciting and at times delightfully macabre outlook on life.
